Things to carry
- Government photo ID (original) — checkposts in Kinnaur and Spiti ask for it
- Warm layers: thermals, fleece and a down jacket (much warmer kit in winter)
- Sturdy shoes, woollen socks, cap and gloves
- Sunscreen, lip balm and sunglasses — the sun is strong at altitude
- Personal medicines; ask your doctor about altitude
- Some cash — ATMs and networks are patchy beyond Kalpa
