About Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer is the rare fort that people still live inside: shops, homes and temples packed into a golden sandstone citadel above the desert. Below it are havelis carved like lace, and an hour west the Thar opens into dunes where you can sleep under a sky with nothing in the way. It is one of the few places in India where the desert is the point rather than the backdrop.

- How to reach
- Jaisalmer has a railway station with overnight trains from Jaipur and Delhi. Jodhpur is the nearest major airport, about 5 hrs by road.
