Dehradun
The Doon valley — gateway to the Ganga, yoga and the hills
About Dehradun
Dehradun is the doorway to the Uttarakhand hills. The city itself has Tibetan monasteries, colonial-era institutes and a fast-growing café scene, and within two hours you can be at Rishikesh for the Ganga aarti and yoga, at Haridwar for Har Ki Pauri, or in the mist at Mussoorie. It is one of the strongest wellness-and-adventure bases in the north.
- Best time to visit
- September to November and February to April are ideal. July to early September is lush but landslide-prone, and river rafting in Rishikesh is closed in peak monsoon. December to January is cold.JFMAMJJASOND✓ September is a great time to go
