About Auli

Auli is a ski slope and a viewpoint rolled into one: a long meadow at around 2,800 m above Joshimath, with Nanda Devi and the Garhwal giants lined up in front of it. It gets snow through winter and turns into an oak-and-conifer meadow in summer, and it is the closest India comes to a ski holiday you can reach by road from Delhi.

Best time to visit
✓ September is a great time to go
December to March for snow and skiing, and April to June and September to November for clear views and easy meadow walks.
How to reach
Rishikesh and Haridwar are the nearest railheads (about 9–10 hrs by road to Joshimath), and Dehradun the nearest airport. A ropeway connects Joshimath to Auli.
