About Auli
Auli is a ski slope and a viewpoint rolled into one: a long meadow at around 2,800 m above Joshimath, with Nanda Devi and the Garhwal giants lined up in front of it. It gets snow through winter and turns into an oak-and-conifer meadow in summer, and it is the closest India comes to a ski holiday you can reach by road from Delhi.

- Rishikesh and Haridwar are the nearest railheads (about 9–10 hrs by road to Joshimath), and Dehradun the nearest airport. A ropeway connects Joshimath to Auli.
