About Shillong
Meghalaya means abode of clouds, and the hills around Shillong earn it: Cherrapunji and Mawsynram are among the wettest places on earth, and the rain has carved caves, waterfalls and river gorges out of the limestone. The living root bridges, grown over decades from rubber tree roots by Khasi villagers, are unlike anything else in the country, and Shillong itself has a music scene that deserves an evening.
